Amazon efficiency leading to injury at warehouses

The drive of Amazon for achieving efficiency and meeting their tight delivery deadlines which they have imposed on themselves has played a role reportedly in the injuries which have bene caused to the workers of warehouses. An investigation has underscored the extent and the seriousness of the injury epidemic on the basis of the reports of internal incidents in Amazon. This has also highlighted the pressure which the employees of Amazon are under for meeting deadlines.

Amazon in their statement has denied the fact that their centres are not safe and said further that the picture which is being painted about the workspace is misleading as the size of the workforce is huge. By the month of June there were 125,000 people who had been employed at their fulfilment centres.

The managers have recorded a few kinds of severe injury in the form of Occupational Safety and Health Administration and there is another kind of form which is being used for the noting all sorts of injuries for the compilation of annual report. The first form is for the injuries which lead to loss of life and work days or broken bones and loss of consciousness or for the need of a third-party assistance medically.

OSHA is a description of the total number of accidents and is a mathematical result of the number of incidents which have been recorded per a 100 employees in any given frame of time.

A report suggests that the injury rates which require the days off or restrictions of job at the centres of California and Eastvale had been over quadruple the industry average. An employee had even said that she had the job of scanning an item every 11 seconds to make it 300 items in an hour for meeting the quota given to her.
