Quoting Strategic Leadership, Microsoft Gives Satya Nadella A Hike Of 66%

In recent times, Satya Nadella obtained more money from Microsoft in the latest fiscal year since the company fulfilled business targets and increased its stock price. The CEO gained $42.9 Million altogether compensation—mainly in stock awards—in this fiscal year that concluded on June 30, as stated by Microsoft’s yearly proxy statement, which was released in the last week. The figure was higher by 66% from the previous fiscal year but lesser than the $84.3 Million Nadella gained in the 2014 fiscal year when he quitted Steve Ballmer.

Nadella’s pay hike emphasizes Microsoft’s shift under his leadership since it has doubled down on the cloud services. A year back Microsoft bagged the title of most valuable public organization globally surpassing tech giant Apple. In the last week, Microsoft’s market capitalization surpassed $1.07 Trillion. Nadella obtained a $1 Million base salary hike and a surge in stock awards. While reviewing his equity compensation, Microsoft’s board of members pointed to “Mr. Nadella’s tactical leadership, as well as his efforts to strengthen trust with clients, efforts for company-wide cultural changes, and thriving entry and expansion in innovative technologies and markets.”

Recently, Microsoft was in news for launching new open-source projects around microservices and Kubernetes. Microsoft publicized its two new open-source developments: Dapr and the OAM (Open Application Model). Dapr is a portable and event-determined runtime that requires some of the complications out of building microservices. The OAM is a specification that lets developers identify the resources their applications need to operate on Kubernetes clusters, which Microsoft designed along with Alibaba Cloud. Mark Russinovich—Microsoft Azure’s CTO—reported the OAM solves difficulties that a lot of developers are facing daily. The OAM is fundamentally a YAML file and can be placed in a marketplace or service catalog and deployed from there.
